Since 1861, Gillinder Glass has been a pioneer in American manufacturing, creating custom-designed glass solutions for industries ranging from aerospace and defense to architecture and design. Our reputation for precision, quality, and technical excellence recently earned us the honor of being selected to produce the 2,688 triangular glass tiles that adorn the iconic New Year’s Eve Ball.
Our team got to work immediately, collaborating closely during the design phase to perfect three unique tile variations. The result? Thousands of meticulously crafted glass pieces, each reflecting Gillinder’s unparalleled technical expertise and commitment to excellence.
Setting New Standards
Manufacturing began in November 2024, and our skilled workforce rose to the challenge, meeting ambitious production timelines while maintaining the highest quality standards. The result was not just a stunning product but a testament to the precision and dedication that define Gillinder Glass.

The New Year’s Eve Ball, weighing six tons and illuminated by 32,256 LEDs, is more than just a symbol of celebration. It represents the culmination of art, technology, and craftsmanship—a perfect match for Gillinder’s mission to push the boundaries of glass innovation. The NYE Ball was recently retired in a joyous occasion! The Ball will be dismantled and put on display inside the Times Travel immersive history experience to be viewed year-round when it opens later this year.
